  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 0.5 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is tender. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has thickened.
  • Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns.
