  • 0.5 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Onion, chopped
  • 1 cup Celery, chopped
  • 0.5 cup Carrot, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup All-purpose flour
  • 4 cup Fish or seafood stock
  • 2 cup Heavy cream
  • 0.5 pound Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 0.5 pound Crab meat, lump
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.125 teaspoon Cayenne pepper
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Preparation Steps

  • Melt butter in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat.
  • Add chopped onion, celery, and carrot. Cook until softened, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Stir in minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  • Whisk in flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  • Gradually whisk in the fish or seafood stock until smooth.
  • Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in heavy cream, shrimp, and crab meat.
  • Season with salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Do not boil.
  • Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
