  • 0.45 pounds ground beef
  • 0.91 kg potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • 0.25 cup bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a skillet, brown the ground beef with chopped onion. Drain off any excess fat.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of a greased baking dish.
  • Spread the browned beef mixture over the potatoes.
  • Layer the remaining potatoes over the beef.
  • Pour milk over the top and season with salt and pepper.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese and bread crumbs.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 15 minutes, or until potatoes are tender and casserole is golden brown.

Notes

Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving for easier slicing.
