  • 0.5 cup butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup chocolate chips optional

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, cream together melted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
  • Fold in chocolate chips, if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  • Let cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Notes

For an extra gooey texture, slightly underbake.
