  • 1 cup dried red beans
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 cup long grain rice
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper

Preparation Steps

  • Rinse the red beans and soak them in water overnight.
  • Drain the beans and place them in a pot with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour, or until tender.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a separate pot. Add the rice and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the salt and pepper.
  • Add the cooked red beans to the rice and stir to combine. Continue to cook for 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender.
