Ingredients

Biscuit Dough

  • 2.5 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 0.75 cup heavy cream

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 0.5 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For Brushing

  • 2 tablespoon melted unsalted butter

Instructions

Preparation Steps

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add the heavy cream, mixing until just combined to form a shaggy dough. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it into a 0.75-inch thick rectangle.
  • Using a round biscuit cutter or a knife, cut out biscuits. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar for the topping.
  • Brush the tops of the biscuits with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture generously over the buttered tops.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve warm.

Notes

For extra sweetness, you can drizzle a simple glaze made from powdered sugar and milk over the biscuits after they have cooled slightly.
