Instructions
Preparation Steps
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add flour and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
Add milk and butter; knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Let rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until almost doubled.
Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool completely on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
